Doulas are trained professionals who provide continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to the birthing person before, during, and shortly after childbirth. Additionally, they can provide a great deal of support to partners as well. Physical and emotional support can make a huge difference for everyone involved and help the birthing person achieve the healthiest, most rewarding experience possible. Doulas are there for you and your family in whatever capacity you need. They are there to be an advocate for you during your birth. They do not fill the role of a medical professional; instead, a doula is there in tandem with your care provider of choice.

Brilliant Births’ vision focuses on cultivating relationships that are positive and authentic to each family, ultimately honoring their experience and welcoming their baby to the world. We are not here to choose your path of birth. Instead, we are here to be a reassuring presence and help you navigate your own journey.

What are the benefits of having someone there to support you, you ask? Well here are just a few!

  • Decreased use of pain relief medications during labor

  • Decreased length of labor

  • Decreased incidence of C-sections

  • Birthing person is less likely to experience birth complications

  • Birthing person & baby are more likely to initiate breastfeeding early

  • Birthing person is more likely to rate their childbirth experience positively

As doulas, we see ourselves as part of YOUR team all working together to help you have a happy, healthy birth, baby, and recovery period. If you are interested in hiring a doula to see these benefits in your birth, send us a message!
